J.P. Reed is a freelance trumpet player and guitar player in the San Diego area.  J.P. holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Composition from University California San Diego, and a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University where he studied trumpet with John Wilds (San Diego Symphony), and Gilbert Castellanos (Jazz Recording Artist).  J.P. is currently Band Director at Steele Canyon High School teaching jazz band, concert band, and guitar, and Associate Faculty at Mira Costa College teaching Jazz History.  When not gigging or teaching J.P. enjoys watching baseball, and admiring his 24 autographed Bip Roberts baseball cards.
